Summer's gone and the care-or lack of-may now be showing now that we are well into cooler temperatures. What can you do to help your hair get healthy and survive the deep winter freeze?
Below are some healthful tips to help you along the way.
Moisturization
Cold winter temperatures zap the moisture out of the hair. This is due to the lack of humidity. (This is why hair probably grows much better in the summer). So, make sure to use plenty of moisturizing conditioners on your hair. I have been using argon oil and find that this is very moisturizing.
Clip those ends
Make sure to clip those split ends every eight to twelve weeks to free your hair and allow healthy growth. This is really important since hair growth will appear to be at a standstill if the split ends are not cut.
Sun Protection
For those days of Indian summer, make sure to use an SPF in your hair as the heat can cause dryness. If you go swimming, make sure to rinse or co-wash the hair to get the damaging chemicals out.
Color
If you color your hair, be extra nice to it by making your calendar for deep conditioning. Remember, do not relax and color at the same time. Also, remember, it is probably best to leave this to the professionals.
Gels
Limit the use of gels which are alcohol based and can cause dryness, damage and breakage especially during the winter.
