More beauty tips for summer

Everyone know the value of sunscreens, the tricks of mascara, and facial cleansing do's and don'ts. As the temperature rises, all of us will be looking for ways to safeguard our skin, face and hair.

This article will present some new tips to make the best individual use of this info.

Sunscreen for the hair?

It's a well known fact that the sun's UVA and UVB rays are damaging for the skin.  But did you know that they can be damaging to the hair as well? Particularly if your hair has been colored, permed or relaxed. Or, if the hair has been abused by super heated curling irons or straightening combs.

What happens is the UV rays weaken and break the protein bonds in the hair shaft and can fade color and dry the already damaged hair.

Suggestions are to use conditioner in your hair while at the pool-the chlorination also wreaks havoc on the hair, and cover the hair with a wide-brimmed hat.  This way, your face will also be protected as well.  Make sure to rinse off well after leaving the pool to get excess chlorine away from the skin and hair.

Which is better hot or cold water for facial cleaning?

Water should be a tepid or lukewarm temperature.   This temperature water will pretty much clean away all types of contaminants such as dirt, oil, etc. Water that is too hot, or too cold can be damaging to the delicate blood vessels under the eyes which already have a tendency to darken and become puffy with age or a late night out.

If you have a particular skin condition, use a cleanser that contains salicylic acid or glycolic acid to better cleanse the pores and exfoliate.

Avoiding the raccoon eyes

Apply mascara to upper and lower lashes, then apply a coat of clear mascara to keep things in place  There'll be no more smudging or raccoon eyes.
