Are you looking for a nice, flexible and healthful style for your hair for the long dog days of summer to come? Well, the braids are in. I just love the versatility of looks that braids afford the wearer: casual for work or play, sophisticated with shoulder length box braids swept back into a ponytail, or regal with the braids pinned elegantly up with fancy and intricately designed combs.
With summer 2011 finally here, we can look forward to many more scorching hot days of ninety degree plus temperatures. The need for carefree, cool styles that allows the hair to breath is of utmost importance. Braids are the recipe. This post will list some important points to keep hair healthy and beautiful during the coming days of summer.
Braid care
Several points to remember in wearing braids is to make sure that the hair stays well hydrated. This can be done by using Morrocco or Argan oil on the hair and scalp. This oil is easily absorbed into the hair which provides maximum moisturization. Olive oil is another great hydrating oil to use on the hair as this is well absorbed too. Keep this in mind when going swimming as chlorine can wreak havoc on the har. Protect, protect and protect with good conditioners before going swimming to stave off some of the damage.
I hope that these tips will help you enjoy the many braided styles while keeping your hair healthy.

Use a good sulfate free sulfate free shampoo to wash. (Too frequent washing is not recommended since this can cause dryness) After the last rinse, leave shampoo in to condition.(You can do this with the sulfate free shampoos.)
For deep conditioning, again you can use olive or argan oils. Get advice from your stylist for frequency of conditioning based on your hair's overall health.
A very important tip with braids: avoid putting too much pressure on hair which can cause traction alopecia. That receding hair line, if not given a chance to heal, may become permanent as irreparable follicle damage can occur.
I hope that these tips will help you enjoy the many braided styles while keeping your hair healthy.
