More Help transitioning to Natural Hair

The numbers of us are growing with natural hair.  Gone are the days when women line up at the beauty counter check out to purchase strong relaxers such as "Super Strength Ultra Sheen" and other products.  Women today are opting for more gentle and chemical free products such as Ms. Jessie's or Carol's Daughter curly custards which helps to gently enhance our natural curls and moisturize the hair at the same time.

This post contains information that will help in the transition from relaxed to natural hair.

Help ease the transition

Give your hair lots of moisturizing conditioners since the hair that is relaxed will be very fragile and dry from chemical use. It might also be a good idea to apply a leave in conditioner before washing. This helps detangle and reduces breakage.

Although it is difficult, resist the urge to use heat to press or blow dry the hair.  This will result in more damage, dryness and breakage.

Use oil rinses which can cut down on tangles after shampooing.  Try using olive or castor oil. Argan oil is another great moisturizing conditioner.
