Today's woman has immense styling and hair versatility until most of us could have a different look for nearly everyday of the year without repetition. How is this possible? Enter the wig. You can devise a new look and persona for day, casual wear and for a glamorous night out. How? Let's look at a few ideas.
Selecting a wig
In selecting a wig, keep in mind your face's shape. Professional say, for example, a round face looks great with round face. (I've successfully done this for years). Side parts look good on oval-shaped faces. Wide foreheads are hidden with uneven bangs swept off the face.
Color
As I entered my mid-forties, many women voiced the feeling that lighter colors help "lift" the face, whereas dark colors and black brought the face down. Stylists seems to be of this mind as well. For that reason, I 've worn weaves and wigs with highlights and color.
Texture
Synthetic hair limits styling freedom since heat and coloring are all out of the question, this hair will melt.
I've been starting to buy the more expensive wigs and weaves, which have either been blended for myself or the Remy, which, would good care, will last over a year. The overall effect is more natural.
Wig care
Make sure to purchase a good wide-tooth comb to avoid hair loss. Comb the wig when it is wet to avoid matting. Remember, not to use heat on synthetic hair as it may not be able to tolerate this.
Wash and condition once a week if you wear your wig daily. For synthetic hair, don't use heavy moisturizers since this can leave a residue. Also, if the hair is European, don't use Afro-American products because they may be too health.
Take hair to stylist for care and maintenance at least once a month.
