Natural tips for your princess' hair

It is so important to stick to natural products as much as possible when taking care of  your young one's hair.   She too, can enjoy the styling freedom just like mom with very little fuss and chemicals.  Curls, cornrows, braids are just a few examples that she can have fun with while keeping her hair healthy and growing.    I was just reading "Essence' " Beauty and Style Essentials for little girls and I would like to share some of that information here on the blog.

Washing tips

First of all, try to use paraben and sulfate free shampoos and conditioners.  This will put your young one on the road to healthy and longer hair.  "Sally's" has a great, low cost alternative to "Wen" called "hair1." Remember, though that there won't be lots of sudsing action but the hair will be left clean, soft and well conditioned..

When washing your young one's hair use a wide tooth comb and a detangler to detangle quickly.  Section off the hair and work your way up the hair shaft.  This will avoid breakage and damage. Argan oil is great for detangling and leaving the hair soft and shiny.

It is a good idea not to shampoo more than once a week because curly, or textured hair will tend to dry out quickly.  Remember, condition, condition and condition is the way to manage kinks and keep the hair soft.

Extensions

According to the Beauty & Style Essentials, it is not suggested that extensions be used on children under 13 years of age.  Hair grows in thicker and faster while it is resting in cornrows.  Remember that breakage problems occur when the hair is braided too tightly.

Relaxers and Kiddie Perms?

Hold off on the chemicals as it will do nothing but weaken and damage you baby's hair.

For easier styling freedom, try using shampoos and conditioners that contain Argan oil as mentioned earlier. Remember, condition and condition to keep the hair manageable. Your little one will thank you for starting her off on the path to healthier, longer hair.
